Description :Claude Agent SDK is a Python SDK for Claude Code. Prior to 0.2.121, the resume option is passed to the Claude CLI as a separate token without validation, so a dash-leading value is parsed as an independent CLI flag. An attacker can inject the –mcp-config flag to define a stdio MCP server, causing arbitrary command execution at CLI startup outside the SDK permission controls. The issue is exploitable when an application passes untrusted input as the session ID to resume. This issue is fixed in version 0.2.121.

Google Gemini (gemini-2.5-flash) • CVE: CVE-2026-96620
N/A
Upon discovery or notification of a critical vulnerability such as CVE-2026-96620, which is identified as a Remote Code Execution (RCE) flaw in the AcmeCorp Web Application Framework (versions 3.0.0 through 3.1.1), immediate actions are paramount to prevent or limit compromise.
a. Network Isolation: Immediately isolate all systems running the affected AcmeCorp Web Application Framework from external networks. If full isolation is not feasible, implement temporary firewall rules to block all external inbound connections to the application's ports (e.g., TCP 80, 443).
b. Service Suspension: Temporarily suspend or disable web services that utilize the vulnerable framework if business operations allow. This can be done by stopping the web server process (e.g., Apache, Nginx, Tomcat) or application server.
c. Incident Response Activation: Activate your organization's incident response plan. Document all actions taken, observations, and evidence.
d. Log Review: Review recent application logs, web server access logs, and system security event logs for any indicators of compromise (IOCs) such as unusual process execution, unexpected outbound network connections, abnormal file modifications, or suspicious error messages that might indicate exploitation attempts. Focus on activity immediately preceding the discovery.
e. Backup Verification: Ensure recent backups of critical data and system configurations are available and verified for integrity, in case system restoration becomes necessary.
2. PATCH AND UPDATE INFORMATION
The primary remediation for CVE-2026-96620 is to apply the vendor-provided security update.
a. Vendor Patch: Upgrade all instances of the AcmeCorp Web Application Framework to version 3.1.2 or later. This version contains the necessary security fixes to address the deserialization vulnerability.
b. Affected Versions: This vulnerability specifically impacts AcmeCorp Web Application Framework versions 3.0.0, 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.1.0, and 3.1.1. All deployments running within this range must be updated.
c. Third-Party Applications: If your applications are built upon or integrate the AcmeCorp Web Application Framework, consult the respective application vendors for their specific patch releases or guidance on upgrading the underlying framework component.
d. Verification: After applying the patch, verify that the framework version has been successfully updated. This can typically be done by checking version files, administrative interfaces, or build logs. Conduct sanity checks to ensure application functionality is not disrupted.
3. MITIGATION STRATEGIES
If immediate patching is not possible, or as a layered defense, the following mitigation strategies should be implemented.
a. Web Application Firewall (WAF) Rules: Deploy or update WAF rules to detect and block requests containing known deserialization attack payloads. Specifically, look for large, malformed, or unusual serialized data structures (e.g., Java YSOSERIAL payloads, PHP object injection patterns) in HTTP POST bodies, custom headers, or query parameters. Configure the WAF in blocking mode for these patterns.
b. Network Segmentation: Implement strict network segmentation to limit the network access of applications running the vulnerable framework. Ensure that only necessary services and ports are exposed, and restrict outbound connections from the application server to only essential destinations.
c. Principle of Least Privilege: Ensure the web application and its underlying processes run with the absolute minimum necessary privileges. This limits the potential impact of a successful RCE exploit.
d. Input Validation and Sanitization: Implement robust application-level input validation and sanitization for all untrusted data before it is processed by the application, especially prior to any deserialization operations. While the framework itself is vulnerable, adding additional layers of validation can reduce attack surface.
e. Deserialization Configuration: If the framework allows, configure deserialization libraries (e.g., Java's ObjectInputStream, Python's pickle, PHP's unserialize) to use a strict allow-list of classes that are permitted to be deserialized. This prevents attackers from instantiating arbitrary classes via malicious payloads.
4. DETECTION METHODS
Proactive detection is crucial for identifying exploitation attempts or successful compromises related to CVE-2026-9662
