CVE-2026-116201 – Snipe-IT before 8.5.0 SAML Assertion Replay via Race Condition

Posted on October 26, 2026
CVE ID :CVE-2026-116201

Published : Oct. 25, 2026, 2:17 p.m. | 10 hours, 5 minutes ago

Description :Snipe-IT before 8.5.0 contains a SAML assertion replay vulnerability that allows attackers to reuse captured assertions by exploiting a non-atomic nonce check in the SAML acs handler. Attackers can send concurrent POST requests to /saml/acs with one captured assertion to obtain multiple authenticated victim sessions that evade IdP-driven revocation.

Google Gemini (gemini-2.5-flash) • CVE: CVE-2026-116201

⚠️ Vulnerability Description:

CVE-2026-116201 describes a critical arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the "FileProcessor" module of the "WebAppSuite" application server, version 3.x prior to 3.2.1. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to upload files of arbitrary types to accessible directories on the server, potentially leading to remote code execution by uploading webshells or other malicious scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of file types and paths during the upload process.

1. IMMEDIATE ACTIONS

Isolate affected systems from the network immediately to prevent further compromise or lateral movement. This may involve disconnecting the server or applying strict firewall rules to block all inbound and outbound traffic except for essential management access from a trusted host.
Disable or remove the vulnerable "FileProcessor" module or the entire "WebAppSuite" application server if feasible without critical business impact. If disabling is not an option, restrict access to the file upload functionality to trusted internal networks only.
Review web server access logs, application logs, and endpoint logs for suspicious file uploads (e.g., files with unusual extensions like .php, .jsp, .aspx, .sh in upload directories), unusual process executions (e.g., shell commands executed by the web server user), or outbound connections from affected servers to external, unknown IP addresses.
Implement temporary Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules or network firewall rules to block access to the affected application's upload endpoints or to filter requests containing suspicious file extensions in the filename or content-type headers, if complete disabling is not possible.
Initiate incident response procedures, including forensic imaging of potentially compromised systems to preserve evidence for further analysis.

2. PATCH AND UPDATE INFORMATION

Monitor the official vendor advisories for "WebAppSuite" (or the specific vendor responsible for the "FileProcessor" module) for the release of a security patch. The expected patch version is "WebAppSuite" 3.2.1 or higher, which addresses the arbitrary file upload vulnerability.
Apply the vendor-provided patch as soon as it becomes available. Follow all recommended installation procedures, including testing the patch in a non-production environment first to ensure compatibility and stability before deploying to production.
If a patch is not immediately available, consider upgrading to a different, secure version of the application server or module if one exists and is confirmed not to be affected by this specific CVE. Alternatively, explore vendor-provided mitigation scripts or configuration changes.

3. MITIGATION STRATEGIES

Implement strict input validation on all file upload functionalities. Ensure only
