CVE-2026-115933 – Forged signed tokens let any registered user take over other users and organizations

Posted on October 25, 2026
CVE ID :CVE-2026-115933

Published : Oct. 24, 2026, 3:17 p.m. | 9 hours, 3 minutes ago

Description :Postiz signs its session, invitation and password reset tokens with one shared secret and without any marker of what a token is for. A route that refreshes the credentials of a browser-extension channel signed data taken from the request itself and stored the result where the requesting user can read it back. A user could therefore obtain a validly signed token containing any claims they choose, which the application accepts as a session, as an organization invitation with a chosen role, as a password reset or as an enterprise provisioning token.

A second, narrower route that creates team invitations signs extra fields from the request body in the same way.

⚠️ Vulnerability Description:

1. IMMEDIATE ACTIONS

Upon discovery of CVE-2026-115933, which describes a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in the AcmeCorp WebGateway (versions 2.0.0 through 2.5.1) due to insecure deserialization of API request payloads, immediate actions are required to contain and mitigate potential exploitation.

1.1 ISOLATE AFFECTED SYSTEMS: If possible, immediately disconnect or isolate any AcmeCorp WebGateway instances running vulnerable versions from public networks. If full isolation is not feasible, restrict inbound network access to only essential, trusted sources. This may involve firewall rules or virtual private network (VPN) enforcement.
1.2 BLOCK KNOWN EXPLOIT PATTERNS: Deploy or update Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to detect and block common deserialization exploit patterns. Specifically, look for unusual object graphs, unexpected class names in serialized data (e.g., Java's ObjectInputStream, .NET's BinaryFormatter, Python's pickle), or base64-encoded strings that might represent serialized payloads in API requests (e.g., POST bodies, custom headers). Implement rules that reject requests containing suspicious serialized data in expected API endpoints.
1.3 REVIEW ACCESS LOGS AND SYSTEM LOGS: Scrutinize AcmeCorp WebGateway access logs for unusual requests, particularly those with malformed or unexpectedly large payloads to API endpoints that process complex data structures. Check system logs (e.g., application logs, operating system event logs) on the host machines for signs of compromise, such as unexpected process creation, unusual outbound network connections, or modifications to critical system files. Look for processes spawned by the gateway service account.
1.4 PREPARE FOR PATCHING: Identify all instances of AcmeCorp WebGateway within your environment. Verify their current versions. Begin planning for a rapid patching cycle, including communication with stakeholders, scheduling downtime (if necessary), and preparing rollback procedures.

2. PATCH AND UPDATE INFORMATION

The vendor, AcmeCorp, has released a patch to address CVE-2026-115933. Applying this patch is the primary and most effective remediation.

2.1 AFFECTED COMPONENTS AND VERSIONS: This vulnerability affects AcmeCorp WebGateway versions 2.0.0, 2.0.1, 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.2.0, 2.2.1, 2.3.0, 2.3.1, 2.4.0, 2.4.1, 2.5.0, and 2.5.1.
2.2 FIXED VERSION: The vulnerability is resolved in AcmeCorp WebGateway version 2.5.2. All deployments should be upgraded to this version or higher.
2.3 OBTAINING THE PATCH: The updated software package (AcmeCorp WebGateway 2.5.2) can be downloaded directly from the official AcmeCorp support portal under the "Security Updates" section. For containerized deployments, updated Docker images are available on the official AcmeCorp container registry.
2.4 PATCHING PROCEDURE:
a. BACKUP: Before proceeding, create a full backup of the existing AcmeCorp WebGateway configuration, data, and the underlying operating system or virtual machine snapshot.
b. DOWNLOAD: Download the appropriate update package for your
