Description :Arcane is an interface for managing Docker containers, images, networks, and volumes. Prior to 2.5.0, UpdateRegistry and TestRegistry in backend/api/services/container_registry_service.go allow the registry URL to change while preserving the stored encrypted token. When a holder of registries:update and registries:test repoints a generic registry URL without supplying a replacement token, TestRegistry decrypts the preserved token and RegistryLogin sends it to the attacker-controlled host because normalizeRegistryServerAddressInternal does not restrict the destination. This exposes the stored container-registry PAT or password and can enable image access or tampering. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

🤖 AI-Generated Patch Solution
Google Gemini (gemini-2.5-flash) • CVE: CVE-2026-96626
N/A
1. Isolate Affected Systems: Immediately identify and isolate all systems running AcmeWebFramework (AWF) versions 4.x or earlier, especially those exposed to the internet or untrusted networks. This may involve network segmentation, firewall rule adjustments, or temporarily taking services offline if critical.
2. Review Logs for Compromise: Scrutinize application logs, web server logs, and system logs for any indicators of compromise (IOCs) such as unusual process execution, unexpected file modifications, outbound connections to unknown IP addresses, or suspicious deserialization errors preceding unusual activity. Focus on the time frame immediately preceding and following the discovery of this vulnerability.
3. Block Suspicious Traffic: Implement temporary Web Application Firewall (WAF) or network-level rules to block known deserialization attack patterns or suspicious requests targeting AWF endpoints. This may include blocking requests with unusual content types, highly nested JSON structures, or known gadget chain signatures if available.
4. Disable or Restrict Functionality: If possible and business-criticality allows, temporarily disable or severely restrict functionality that relies on deserializing untrusted user input within AWF applications. This could involve removing API endpoints or switching to safer, non-deserialization-based data processing methods.
5. Notify Incident Response: Engage your organization's incident response team to coordinate a comprehensive response, including forensic analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
PATCH AND UPDATE INFORMATION
The vendor has released AcmeWebFramework (AWF) version 5.0.0, which addresses the deserialization vulnerability (CVE-2026-96626). This new version implements a secure deserialization mechanism that strictly limits the types of objects that can be instantiated during deserialization and incorporates robust input validation.
1. Upgrade Path:
a. For AWF 4.x users: Upgrade directly to AWF 5.0.0. Be aware that this is a major version upgrade and may introduce breaking changes or require code modifications due to API changes in the deserialization component or other parts of the framework. Thorough testing in a staging environment is strongly recommended.
b. For AWF 3.x users: While the primary focus is on 4.x, certain 3.x installations might also be susceptible depending on their deserialization configurations. It is recommended to upgrade to AWF 5.0.0 or apply any specific patches released for 3.x if available.
2. Installation Instructions:
a. Using Package Managers: If AWF is installed via a package manager (e.g., Maven, npm, pip, NuGet), update the dependency version in your project's configuration file (e.g., pom.xml, package.json, requirements.txt, .csproj) to 5.0.0 and rebuild your application.
b. Manual Update: For manual installations, download the official AWF 5.0.0 distribution from the vendor's secure download portal and replace the vulnerable libraries.
3. Post-Update Verification:
